Here are some useful tips on saving energy in the home.
1) Replace all your light bulbs with energy efficient ones
2) Double Glazing helps keep the heat in the home so you don't need your boiler on all the time
3) Switch off appliances instead of leaving them on standby
4) Don't use screensavers, at one time they prevented phosphor burn in on old monitors but now they use up more cpu power rendering the display, instead use energy power management (in xp control panel)
5) Try to use food bags & thin plastic containers in your freezer instead of jars and other packaging (your freezer works overtime using more energy trying to cool Jars and such)
6) Install draught excluding
7) Put a jacket around your hot water tank
8) Lift your carpet up and fill in all the cracks
